Talking about Packing Up for A Move

Look For These Things In A Storage Unit

When you plan on putting your things in storage, you want to know what it is that you should be looking for. When you go to the facility, you will find things go easier and faster if you understand some of the different options that will be available to you and you know what ones you will need. Here is some information that you want to know.

Make sure the unit is easy to access

You are going to want to make sure the unit is going to be easy for you to access. If you are only putting a few things in the unit and you won't need to access it much, then you will be fine with a unit that's upstairs or with one that has a small door.

However, if you are putting a good amount of things in the unit, you need to store large items, or you are going to need to get into the unit frequently, then you want a bottom floor unit with a wide door that's going to be easier for you to move larger items through.

Make sure the unit is a secure one

You are going to want to verify the facility has a lot of good security measures in place and that they are going to benefit you. Most storage facilities have gates people need to pass through to access the units and they will need to have a card or a code to get the gates to open.

Make sure you always have access to your card, so you will have it when you need it and won't forget it. It may be a good idea to keep the card in the car. If you can, you should just remember the code or have it written down in the car.

If you have times when you need to get into your unit after hours, make sure you will be able to access the premises even when the facility is closed.

Make sure the unit is climate-controlled

There are a lot of things that can end up being damaged if they aren't put in a climate-controlled unit. Think about the items you will be storing and make sure if any of them can become damaged due to exposure to very hot or cold temperatures that the unit you rent will ensure your items won't be damaged by either.
